Santa Fe Events and Festivals

Santa Fe Film Festival happens annually for five days during the month of February. It`s a celebration of New Mexican cinema that rewards films and the people who make them, both on and off the screen.

If you`re visiting Santa Fe for the food, you have to visit during Santa Fe Restaurant Week! It typically happens around the end of February and is a foodie`s dream. Check the event`s website for the official dates and a full list of the restaurants participating.

Southwest Chocolate and Coffee Fest is the largest food festival dedicated to chocolate and coffee! The event takes place in April at Expo New Mexico.

American Indian Week: Pueblo Days is put on by the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in April as a celebration of the vibrant and historically significant Native American culture in New Mexico.

Celebrate the 31st anniversary of Pride in the downtown plaza in June. Celebrations will be held in town all day!

The International Folk Art Market celebrates cultures from every part of the world. The two-weekend event takes place in July on Museum Hill between the Museum of International Folk Art, the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, and the Laboratory of Anthropology. The market is known as one of the best Santa Fe events.

Pancakes on the Plaza is Santa Fe`s favorite Fourth of July celebration! The local Rotary Club hosts the event which features live music, arts and crafts, vintage cars, and of course, lots of pancakes!

This annual event honors and promotes local artisans and traditional Hispanic and Native American cultures. The Spanish Colonial Arts Society hosts the event each year in July on the Santa Fe Plaza.

Santa Fe Opera`s season runs July through August. The talented cast puts on at least four different shows a season.

This is truly a unique Santa Fe event! The burning of Will Shuster`s Zozobra happens on the Friday of Labor Day Weekend as a “fiery finale” to summer. Artist Will Shuster created the Zozobra and started the tradition in his backyard. Today, the event is hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe at Fort Marcy Park.

Each year, this is one of the most anticipated Santa Fe festivals! The Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta happens every September for several days of flavorful wine and delicious food.

The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival hosts international and independent films at five different theaters around Santa Fe. The event happens every year in October.

This beloved event fills the blue skies of New Mexico with colorful hot air balloons every October. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta lasts nine days and draws nearly a million visits! The Fiesta is by far the most can`t-miss event in the entire state of New Mexico.

The Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival is a unique festival that showcases just how creative “the City Different” is. The festival is essentially a recycled material art market that takes place at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center on a weekend in November each year.

The Canyon Road Christmas Eve Walk, also known as the Canyon Road Farolito Walk, is a holiday tradition that lights up the streets and hearts of Santa Fe. Thousands of paper lanterns called farolitos line Canyon Road turning the art gallery district into a work of art itself.

Bring in the New Year in “the City Different” at the beloved Santa Fe Plaza! New Year`s Eve on the Santa Fe Plaza has everything from heaters and bonfires to live music. Just to be truly different, the event raises (instead of drops) a Zia sun symbol as fireworks light up the night sky at midnight.
