Sometimes you just have to tout the amazing place where you live.  And where you hope everyone will visit.  That’s how we came up with this post. Santa Fe. It’s the place where you can indulge every whim, whether it’s spending Christmas Eve wandering Canyon Road galleries, amidst farolitos and little bonfires while a light snow dusts adobe walls, or dancing to local musicians on the Plaza on a summer evening.  It’s Saturday morning strolling the popular Farmer’s Market at the Santa Fe Railyard, picking through heirloom tomatoes and freshly roasted green chile. It’s outdoor fun – hitting the slopes  [ Read More ]

Last week we gave you The Plaza Café, one of the great reasons to hang out at the Santa Fe Plaza, whether you’re a local or just visiting and staying in one of Two Casitas’ fabulous vacation rentals.  Once you have an amazing meal under your belt (we’re great believers in “Panza llena corazon contento”, which means “full stomach, happy heart”), you’re going to want to walk off some of that green or red chile.  If you want to spend a half hour strolling, our suggestion is that you stroll right over to The Palace of the Governors for a visit with  [ Read More ]

Santa Fe Space and Luxury – Two Casitas De la Luz

Wendy put us up in the two bedroom De la Luz recently and I brought along my pals Sabrina and Bruce Colson.  They were selling Pick Up Sticks jewelry at the Girls, Inc. show on the plaza and we wanted, as always, a place that was an easy walk to their booth.  With an address at 624 Paseo de la Cuma, De la Luz is just a short drive off Old Taos Highway, and an easy walk to downtown Santa Fe. De la Luz was a great place to stay.  If you’re looking for comfort and luxury, if you like a  [ Read More ]

Santa Fe Farmer’s Market – Live Like a Local

At Two Casitas, we know you’re first drawn to Santa Fe by the city’s celebrated sites and landmarks, by the photos in guidebooks, and by the stories your friends tell when they return from a visit here.  We know Santa Fe is considered one of the ultimate destinations by travelers, and we’re very happy with that distinction.  But beyond all that, beyond the Plaza and the Opera and the Cathedral and Canyon Road, what we’re all about at Two Casitas is helping you feel like a local during your visit.  We truly believe the best way to experience Santa Fe is not  [ Read More ]

For hundreds of years, artists have been saying that Santa Fe is a city filled with great light. Of course, it’s true. One of my favorite things to do first thing in the morning when I’m staying there is to take my coffee onto whatever patio is closest and sit in the sunshine under those breathtakingly crystal clear blue skies.  It’s a great way to start your day and feed your soul.  If you’ve played your cards right, the nearest patio is attached to a home where you just slept like a baby.   That’s how the Two Casitas Rosario  [ Read More ]

The Santa Fe Plaza is beautiful any time of year, but it’s especially gorgeous right now, at the height of summer, with the trees providing a green canopy of leaves overhead and each lamppost sporting overflowing baskets of flowers.   There’s no better place to spend a relaxing Saturday afternoon, and if you play your cards right and plan accordingly, you can also squeeze in a little shopping from booths set up on the Plaza by artists and gift vendors. Indian Market, August 18 and 19, 2012, and Spanish Market, July 27 – 29, 2012 can always be counted on  [ Read More ]

Santa Fe Breakfast Battle (with myself)

One of the absolute best things about going to Santa Fe is the eating.  I agree that it’s not the only thing worthwhile about visiting – there’s the Opera and the Lensic and the Georgia O’Keefe Museum and the Plaza and the Railyard and the hiking and the skiing and Ten Thousand Waves and music at El Farol on a Saturday night. . . There are a lot of good reasons to visit Santa Fe. But the food. . .just thinking about the amazing food we eat when we’re there makes my mouth water. I love a great breakfast. In fact one  [ Read More ]

Santa Fe, Springtime and the Mariposa at Two Casitas

Springtime in Santa Fe.  Forsythias blooming on side streets, sunshine on Canyon Road patio bars in the early afternoon, high school kids playing hacky sack on the plaza, Georgia O’Keefe poppies in front yards, hiking at Bandelier National Monument . . .It’s an amazing time to be in the Capitol city, and I was fortunate enough to spend the first weekend of spring at Wendy Kapp’s Mariposa, one of Two Casita’s two bedroom homes. It’s a recurring theme in what I write here, but this weekend really brought home the fact that if you choose to stay in a hotel,  [ Read More ]

Michael Kramm recently posted this on Two Casitas Facebook page after a stay in our El Caminito casita.  It’s so inspiring we asked him if we could share it with you on the blog. “Philip Sulecki and I still have dreams of napping in the living room and cooking in the kitchen at El Caminito. El Caminito has inspired me to redecorate my home. There are no words to describe the need for the vacation that we had. If we had opted for a hotel instead of the casita… there is no way it would have been the same. We  [ Read More ]
