Wendy and Bunny – Getting to know the Two Casitas Story

Posted by Bunny on February - 13 - 2012

We All Know Wendy Kapp, Owner of Two Casitas, But Who the Heck is this Bunny Character???

Wendy, center, cooking with friends in Santa Fe

Wendy started her business with just two casitas 13 years ago. Thus the name “Two Casitas.” Owner/operator and hostess, Wendy’s business grew organically from 2 Casitas (Spanish for little houses) to an inventory of 30 homes.

Believing in the magic of Santa Fe after living here herself for 36 years, Wendy knows Santa Fe and northern New Mexico intimately. She is thrilled to help you plan a memorable trip. Knowing your choice in lodging defines your experience, Wendy believes when visiting Santa Fe, you stay more like a local when you stay in a vacation rental.

Wendy Kapp, the quintessential Santa Fe hostess

She’ll give you ideas for the best upscale restaurants or local dives that no tourist would ever know about. She will correct you if you say “how many blocks to the square” and tell you if you want to fit in to Santa Fe you must call it the plaza. She will help you know when to purchase your Opera tickets or the best day trips to explore the wonders of northern New Mexico. She’ll send you a calendar of events at local venues. She’ll go by your vacation home and turn on the a/c or the heater before your arrival. She will even change the light bulb for you. She’ll field your calls in the middle of the night if you lock yourself out of your house.

In short, Wendy Kapp of Two Casitas will stand on her head to be sure you have a great time in Santa Fe.

So who the heck is this girl, Bunny, who’s writing all these blog posts? That has to be a pseudonym, right? No one is really named Bunny, right?

Bunny, the New Mexico native who loves to write about New Mexico

Well, folks, I’m Bunny Terry. I’m a New Mexico native who doesn’t get to live in Santa Fe. Not yet, anyway. I live elsewhere in northeastern New Mexico. I’ve been coming to Santa Fe all my life – first when I visited my Aunt Margaret who lived out by the rodeo grounds when there were no houses there, and then when I was a single mom living in Albuquerque with little kids to take to museums and hiking and skiing. I still visit Santa Fe, as often as I possibly can and I love Santa Fe because it is, like the rest of my home state, so uniquely New Mexican, so comfortable and so beautiful, and mostly, so fun.

I first stayed with Wendy at Two Casitas in the spring of 2011. I immediately fell in love with her properties. Then I stayed with her again, and then again, and then again, as often as I could, and after several visits, I said, “Wendy, I’m going to write about Two Casitas in my personal blog, which is at www.ilovenewmexicoblog.com. Okay with you?” She was excited and said of course.  My first post was about the McKenzie Street casita.

After a while I asked Wendy if I could write specifically for Two Casitas. She responded as a loyal reader of my personal blog, and knowing me as her guest. “I would love for you to do that for me! You love New Mexico just like I do.  I am not really a writer – I’m more of a hostess and business owner. You are the writer and can speak for me!”

So, when you see that a blog post was written by Bunny, you’re getting Two Casitas, Wendy and Bunny all in one.

Do you have suggestions for topics? Wendy and I would love to hear them.

So sit back and enjoy. We want this blog to be a gathering place for Wendy’s guests, but also for anyone looking for a fresh perspective on Santa Fe.  Like you…
